From my dear friends John and Alisha:
Health Crisis for a dear friend in Nepal | |
Dearest Friends, I'm writing to tell you about Lalman Lama his incredible thangka paintings. Lalman has known painting all his life - learning from his grandfather at the age of 10. Alisha and I met Lalman and his beautiful family while we were in Nepal in 2006 to adopt Shanti and Sandeep. During our lengthy stay in Nepal, Lalman and his family opened up their home to us and we became quite close. Towards the end of 2010 Lalman wrote to tell us of some most unfortunate news that has severely limited his ability to perform his lifelong skill. Lalman's health is beginning to deteriorate and he has lost the ability to move his right arm. He has begun physiotherapy but the doctors tell him that it will take at least 4 to 5 months before he restores the motion and dexterity he once had. Over the Christmas season a package arrived at our house containing 12 beautiful thangkas (traditional buddhist practice and meditation paintings) that he has asked me to attempt to sell for him to cover his mounting medical expenses. These paintings are of extraordinary quality; beautiful and incredibly intricate works of art. When we returned from Nepal in 2006, I built a website for Lalman that we hoped would broaden his exposure and help him in his business - unfortunately that did not happen. I have now taken the 12 new thangkas as an opportunity to revamp his website in hopes of attracting more people that might appreciate his work. If you are interested, please go to www.lalmanlama.com to view Lalman's paintings. The items on the "shop" page are the 12 thangkas that are now in my possession in the USA and which can be immediately shipped anywhere in the world. These thangkas are very reasonably priced considering the superior quality of the work and the difficult situation that Lalman and his family find themselves in. Items on the "collection" page may be available as well but we would have to check with Lalman on the availability. Please do not hesitate to ask if you don't see something you would like; Lalman has an incredible collection of finished thangkas. Please forgive my intrusion into your busy lives with this plea for assistance but my family is grateful for the kindness shown to us during a stressful time of our lives and we are simply trying to return the favor. Many, many thanks, John & Alisha Hastings-Kimball New Jersey, USA |
